Applications and distance tests are reserved for students living in the overseas French
Departments and Territories or abroad.
The application, oral interview and written examinations are in French.
Preparatory class
Available to holders of a Baccalaureate (or a national or international certificate recognized as equivalent) and applicants in their final year of high school (subject to success in their final exams).
Complete of applications to be return to 3IS with the various elements required for consideration by the education committee,
Motivation interview conducted in French (45’) with the head teacher of preparatory
classes and the admissions officer. It allows the candidates to orally present their professional project and their motivations, to answer additional questions put by the Education Committee and to visit classrooms and facilities of the
cinema school.
First year
Accessible to holders of a Baccalaureate (or a school certificate recognized as equivalent) and final year high school pupils who are yet to sit their exams (subject to success in Baccalaureate or equivalent).
Application file completed and returned to 3IS with the elements required,
Entrance examination including an interview before a voting panel and 2 written tests.
Second year
Direct entry into 2nd year is accessible to university graduates or students having successfully completed 2 years of higher education on a parallel admission basis. The process of entering directly to the 2nd year is in three stages:
a completed application form to be returned to 3IS with the various elements required for consideration by the education committee,
a personal interview allows the candidate to present orally their professional project and his/her motivations,
tests on techniques to evaluate different levels of methodological and technical knowledge of the candidate.
If results are favorable, a registration file is transmitted. An intensive technical upgrading course disciplines may be required to facilitate integration in school curriculum and improve the student’s performance in multiple productions of the 2nd and 3rd years.
Third year direct entrance
Direct entry into 3rd year is accessible to university graduates or students having successfully completed 2 years of higher education on a parallel admission basis.
Integration directly into this level is only possible for three options:
• Assistant director & Screenwriting
• Audiovisual production management • Audiovisual Journalism.
There is no direct admission to 3rd year for options Director, Image, Sound and Editing.
The procedures for applying for the 3rd year take place in three stages:
an application form to be completed and returned to 3IS with the various elements required for consideration by the pedagogical board,
a personal interview allows candidates to present orally their professional project and to motivate their application,
undergo technical tests to evaluate the different levels of methodological and technical knowledge of the candidate.
If results are favorable, a registration file is transmitted to the candidate. An upgrade intensive technical disciplines can be applied an intensive upgrade course on one or more technical disciplines may be recommended to facilitate integration in the film school and improve the student’s functioning during the multiple film productions in third year.

Study costs
Tuition fees amount to:
4 840 € for the preparatory year
6 840 € for the first and second years
6 960 € for the third year program
These fees also cover the cost of film productions in the program, loans of equipment and supplies (tapes, movie films, etc.).
The tuition is payable in four installments without extra cost. Other payment facilities are provided in special circumstances according to the needs of students and their parents.
Supported by numerous corporate partners and professionals trained in school finance 3IS through the apprenticeship tax (only tax that businesses have the free allocation) one third of the costs of training and technical equipment. Support professionals can 3IS to offer tuition lower than other private schools is well below the actual cost of education.
