TRAINING EXCELLENCE
The school has begun a process of certification of courses providing genuine readability on the quality of the training programs accessing professionals. Three dossiers have been fully accomplished (gazetted and endorsed in the government’s Journal Officiel of April 21, 2009 and July 8, 2009) camera operator/lighting cameraman, editor for Cinema and Audiovisual and opérateur de prises de son (level III). Other dossiers are being processed (sound, production management, broadcast journalism, director’s assistant). The dossiers processed for certifications presented by 3IS confirmed the excellent employability of alumni: 89% of graduates integrated professional life within six months of leaving the film school. |
Beneficial experience and reputation
With its 20 years of existence, 3IS has garnered loyal partners. Each year, professional networks of the Institute allow many students and new graduates to find internships and first jobs. Close relationships maintained with the audiovisual school's alumni are another great way to get in touch with professionals in film, television, music or journalism. The Institute has also established partnerships with several festivals and institutions in France and abroad. 3IS has also integrated in its training certain technical partners of reference such as Kodak, Fuji, Corporate EV, Videomage, AVID and Apple.
A real professionalization
3IS’audiovisual training allows students to gain real flexibility and polyvalence through mastery of theory and apprenticeship in the fundamentals of the whole range of audiovisual techniques during the first two years, before selecting one professional specialization offered in Year 3: Image, editing, sound, directing, assisting to director, production or broadcast journalism. The training promotes both cultural and artistic disciplines as well as technical knowledge of audiovisual trades. At the end of their studies, students have both a comprehensive grasp of the range of audiovisual skills and a perfect mastery of their chosen specialization. This educational and professional wealth allows them to grow much faster in a world characterized by evolving technologies.
Pedagogy comprises 1/3 of theoretical learning and 2/3 of filming, practical work and work placements. Each year, more than 200 cinematographic and audiovisual productions are made by students with professional technical means: 4 productions are compulsory for students in 1st year (including 1 fiction video), 3 productions in 2nd year (including 1 fiction film on S16mm), 3 to 4 films made in 3rd year of production depending on specialization (including 1 fiction on 35mm film or HD and 1 multi-camera broadcast).
3IS relies on a network of over 100 highly qualified and experienced teachers and professionals who have close ties with the image and sound business. They transmit a knowledge perfectly consistent with the evolution of technology and the audiovisual crafts.
